The Birth Of A New Tuberculosis Vaccine

Tuberculosis is one of the most deadly diseases in the world and the U.S. scientists recently announced the development of a new vaccine for tuberculosis.

Researchers in Colorado State University stated that their vaccine empowers the body's immunity in a novel way -- by activating specific immune system functions that promote the response to the bacterium that causes tuberculosis.

The vaccine which is still in the initial stage of testing would most probably be effective against all strains of TB, including multi-drug and extensively drug resistant tuberculosis.

Till date, according to the ressearchers, no other tuberculosis drug has proven the effectiveness shown by the new vaccine. Its preliminary evidence shows its effectiveness on exposure to tuberculosis.
