Elton John Performs AIDS Awareness Show in Ukraine

This weekend, British singer-songwriter Sir Elton John played a free show in the Ukraine promoting AIDS Awareness.

The concert was broadcast live on Ukrainian television, where 200,000 fans gathered in the capital of Kiev to witness the biggest show ever to be shown on the nation's airwaves.

Viktor Yushchenko, the president of Ukraine, was among one of the attendees of the history-making performance, where information booklets about the disease and where to get counseling were handed out.

According to the Anti-AIDS foundation, the Ukraine has one of the highest HIV infection rates on the continent of Europe.
