Kangpokpi area of Senapati district is gripped by fear as the number of people affected by a typhoid epidemic, now under treatment at the community health centre, increased.
A total of 12 people suffering from typhoid were brought up and admitted to the Kangpokpi community health centre in the last few days. Out of them, six have been discharge from the centre and one has been referred to the RIMS hospital due to seriousness of the condition. The remaining five are undergoing treatment at the centre, official reports said.
Out of a total of 83 patients admitted at the centre during the current month, most were typhoid patients, hospital sources said.
Typhoid, diarrhea and dysentery are common diseases that have affected the people of Kangpokpi with the advent of monsoon in the past few years, the locals stated.
